I started my Taekwondo journey two years ago when I was 10 years old. At first, my parents only wanted my brother to join for self-defence, but I managed to persuade them to let me join too. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I don’t remember my first class very well, but I do remember finding it interesting enough to keep going.
As the weeks passed, I developed a strong interest in poomsae, it quickly became my favourite part of Taekwondo. Around the end of that year, my brother and I were given the opportunity to join the Warrior Team at the start of 2024.
At first, I struggled to keep up with the drills. I was weak and had low stamina. But over time, with the encouragement of my coaches and teammates, I started to improve physically and mentally. Poomsae training helped me perfect my techniques, improve my coordination, and increase my flexibility. All the coaching from my masters paid off when I won gold in my first sparring competition and bronze in my first poomsae competition.
I’ve achieved a lot on this journey, and it has taught me the importance of perseverance and commitment. But I couldn’t have done it without my masters. Thank you for supporting me from day one, for your patience in helping me improve, and for giving me the resilience I needed. And thank you to my teammates and friends who encouraged me and pushed me to do my best.
