Kaitlynn Chan

Hello Masters and everyone,
My name is Kaitlynn and today I would like to share my Taekwondo journey with you. I started Taekwondo when I was about five years old. At the beginning, I thought Taekwondo was very hard. The kicks and punches were difficult, and sometimes I felt a bit nervous when learning new things. But as I kept training, I started to understand more and improve little by little.
When I was learning my kicks and punches, I also started to meet many kind friends at Taekwondo. We trained together, helped each other, and I learned their names. This made training much more fun for me. I also started learning Poomsae and sparring, and I discovered that I really enjoyed both of them.
My first competition was in Gold Coast in 2023. I decided to learn Taekwondo because I wanted to try something new and also learn how to protect myself. At my first competition, I felt very scared and nervous. But now, after more training and competitions, I feel much more confident and less scared.
Taekwondo has helped me change a lot. When I first started, I was shy and unsure, but now I feel braver and more confident. Before competitions, when I am with my friends, I feel more comfortable and supported. Instead of feeling scared, I try to stay calm, focused, and concentrate on doing my best.
One of my best memories is when I won a gold medal. I was very happy and proud because it showed me that all the hard work and practice was worth it. I also discovered that I kind of like sparring because it is exciting and helps me improve my skills. What I like the most about Taekwondo is learning new things and becoming stronger, both physically and mentally. I am still learning every day, and I know there are many things I can continue to improve.
I feel very grateful that I chose this wonderful sport. Taekwondo has taught me discipline, confidence, and never give up. I would like to keep learning, improving my techniques, and doing everything correctly.
I hope to continue my Taekwondo journey and become even better in the future.
