My journey from 2nd to 3rd Dan at WeiWu Taekwondo has been one of growth, learning, and self-discovery. WeiWu has been more than just a club to me, it has been a place that’s helped me mature as both a martial artist and a person. Through training and teaching, I have learnt how to better lead with patience, communicate clearly, and manage challenges with calmness and confidence.

Throughout this journey, I have been provided so many opportunities to develop skills that go far beyond Taekwondo. Life-skills such as time management, problem-solving, discipline, and resilience. Teaching younger students especially taught me how to balance authority with understanding, and how to lead by example rather than instruction. These lessons have helped shape who I am, not only in the dojang but in everyday life.

In my move away from competition, the support from the Masters and my fellow clubmates has meant the world to me. Their constant care and generosity has left me with a strong sense of appreciation and belonging. This support has been a defining feature of my time at WeiWu; I have never felt like just another student, but rather a valued member of a family that genuinely cares about me as a person.

Furthermore, WeiWu Taekwondo has been a place in which I have built long-lasting friendships. To Charlotte, Geri and Ray, it has truly been an honour and a joy to train and instruct alongside you and these memories and played a huge part in shaping who I am today. To Master Brian, Master Joyce, Master Bryanna and Master Benecia, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your constant guidance and support. Your dedication, patience, and high standards have continually inspired me to push myself and uphold the same values, both inside and outside the dojang. Your advice, technical corrections, and constant reminders about humility and perseverance have shaped not only my Taekwondo but also my attitude towards life. I truly would not be the martial artist I am today without your mentorship, encouragement, and belief in me.

Looking back, I’m incredibly humbled and grateful for everything WeiWu has given me: the lessons, the friendships, and the confidence to keep improving. As I move forward from this milestone, I’m grateful for how far this journey has brought me and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
